About Internal Complaints Committee

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is a statutory body constituted in accordance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. The committee is established to provide a safe, secure, and dignified working and learning environment for women within the institution.

The primary role of the ICC is to prevent, prohibit, and redress complaints of sexual harassment at the workplace. It receives complaints, conducts inquiries in a confidential and unbiased manner, and recommends appropriate action based on its findings, following the principles of natural justice.

In addition to grievance redressal, the ICC undertakes awareness and sensitization programs to educate employees and students about gender equality, workplace ethics, and the provisions of the Act. It ensures strict confidentiality of the complainant and protects them from victimization or retaliation.

Through its proactive and responsive functioning, the ICC reinforces the institution’s commitment to zero tolerance toward sexual harassment, promotes respect and equality, and contributes to building a culture of safety, dignity, and mutual trust.

HOD'Message

Welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering at Government Polytechnic College, Palakkad. We started our journey in 1984 with a sanctioned intake of 60 students per year. The department offers a three year diploma course that consists of core civil engineering subjects such a Structural Design and Engineering, Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Construction materials & Engineering and Building Planning and Drawing.

Apart from these regular subjects, students are also trained to operate Total Station and work with soft wares involving Computer Aided Drafting, Structural Analysis and Design, Estimation, Project Planning and Implementation and GIS. The Laboratories in the Department are well equipped to enable practical learning with better understanding and to ensure the optimal consolidation of their knowledge.

Since 1984, we have maintained a consistent academic track record of being placed amongst the first five colleges in the state. The department has played a vital role in moulding the students to excel in their carrier. The alumini of the institution have been employed in various Government Departments and other firms in Private sector. The entire diploma course is designed in a manner that it would groom the students to become efficient field supervisors who would strive to maintain the highest standards in civil construction. The faculty members are recruited by the State Public Service Commission and are competent to deliver a positive learning experience with their excellent academic credentials and industry expertise. The technical staffs are also proficient in their respective fields. The Department also offers consultancy service to various stakeholders including Government Departments and Private firm and have been able to generate a revenue of about Rs. 5 lakhs within past two years.
