The lab is equipped with experimental setups for Basic Electronics, Electronic Circuits and Industrial Electronics. Students gain foundational knowledge of electronic equipment and applications including Electronic Communication, Industrial Automation, Digital Communication and Linear Integrated Circuits.
This laboratory supports courses in Electronic Circuits, Industrial Automation and Digital Communication. Students perform experiments related to Computer Hardware, Data Communication and Linear Integrated Circuits.
This lab focuses on programming, circuit design and simulation. Courses include C Programming, Embedded Systems, Microcontroller Applications, PCB Prototyping, Python Programming and Simulation using numerical software.
The laboratory is equipped for experiments in Digital Electronics and Microcontroller Interfacing. Students perform practical experiments related to digital circuits and embedded system development.
The Electronics Students Association (ELSA) brings together students pursuing electronics-related studies to share knowledge and experience. The association organizes technical workshops, seminars and student activities that enhance professional skills and technical awareness.
ELSA conducts various technical and academic programs during the academic year to promote innovation and collaborative learning among electronics students.
A one-day hands-on workshop on Embedded Systems and IoT was conducted on 16 January 2025 for Electronics Department students at Al-Ameen Engineering College, Shoranur. The session focused on Arduino IDE and ESP32 development.
A two-day LaTeX training program was conducted on 10 and 11 July 2024 at CCF, GPTC Palakkad. The session improved students’ technical documentation and report preparation skills.
The Students Handbook outlines institutional policies, academic regulations and standards of conduct expected from students.
The Electronics Engineering Department publishes an annual technical magazine featuring emerging technologies, research ideas and innovations written primarily by students.
Students undergo a minimum of ten days of industrial training. Industrial visits are also arranged to provide exposure to real engineering environments.
Many student projects are showcased in technical exhibitions and competitions across the state, receiving recognition for innovation and creativity.
A motivational session on “Success through Empowerment Process – Value-Based Living” was delivered by Sri. A.M. Prabhakaran Nair, inspiring students to develop positive values and attitudes for success.
The Training and Placement Cell organizes career guidance programs and recruitment drives for students with support from department coordinators.
An awareness talk on Drug and Mobile Addiction was delivered by Sri. Rishiraj Singh IPS on 4 August 2023 highlighting the impact of addiction on youth and society.

The Electronics Engineering Department at GPTC Palakkad received NBA accreditation for three years (June 2022 – June 2025), reflecting the department’s commitment to quality technical education and continuous improvement.
Arya M (Batch 2021–2024) received the State Award for Best NSS Volunteer for her outstanding contribution to community service activities.
Aparna U V (Batch 2022–2025) won the Kalathilakam title at the institutional arts festival by securing multiple prizes in Malayalam essay writing, poem writing, light music, recitation, and group song.
Arya M was selected to participate in the National Integration Camp of NSS, reflecting her leadership and dedication to social service.
During the academic year 2024–2025, Electronics students secured 62 placement offers, with 28 students receiving packages above ₹2 lakhs per annum from leading companies.
Preman D of S6 Electronics won the Mr. Palakkad 2022–23 title with a Gold Medal in the Junior 55 kg category.
Prajith R of S6 Electronics won a Gold Medal and set a record in Silambattam – Single Handle 2 Hour Rotating event at Madurai Kamaraj University.
Electronics students emerged as winners at Jakruthi 2023, the technical fest conducted by JTC College.
Adithya S and Suresh (Batch 2022–2025) secured 2nd and 3rd places respectively in the Inter Polytechnic College Athletic Championship.
Welcome to the Department of Electronics Engineering at Government Polytechnic College, Palakkad. We started our journey in the year of 1980 which offered a Diploma program in Power Electronics. Later the program was renamed as Diploma in Electronics Engineering in 1991. Over the last four decades, we have grown our expertise and competence in Electronics Engineering education.
The sanctioned intake of students is 60 per year. Our department offers science-based diploma in engineering curriculum under the Directorate of Technical Education. The primary focus of our curriculum is to impart technical know-how to students, promote their problem solving skills and innovation of new technologies. The course contents are periodically updated for introducing new scientific and technological developments by the State Board of Technical Education, Kerala. Recent updation is implemented in Curriculum Revision 2021 as per Outcome based Education.

Since 1984, we have maintained a consistent academic track record of being placed amongst the first five colleges in the state. The department has played a vital role in moulding the students to excel in their carrier. The alumini of the institution have been employed in various Government Departments and other firms in Private sector. The entire diploma course is designed in a manner that it would groom the students to become efficient field supervisors who would strive to maintain the highest standards in civil construction. The faculty members are recruited by the State Public Service Commission and are competent to deliver a positive learning experience with their excellent academic credentials and industry expertise. The technical staffs are also proficient in their respective fields.
